To provide opportunities for children to explore writing.
- an old telephone
- small note pads
- pens and pencils
- a piece of paper with the alphabet letters in capital and lower case.
Provide a small table with all the materials. Explain to the children this is the writing center, and how it should be used.
- They can play secretary and take phone calls and write messages for the people.
- They can write letters to people and put them in the envelopes.
It would be nice to also have a pretend mailbox so the kids can send out the mail. You could give one of the students be the mail carrier. Give him or her a small bag to deliver the mail to the other kids!
