After reading the story "Brown Bear, Brown Bear", children will paint a bear with chocolate pudding!
Objectives:
To integrate literacy and gross motor skills to produce self-esteem through art work.
Materials:
Simple reproducible pattern of a bear.
Plan: - Read the book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" by Frog Street Press.
- Distribute a simple copy of a large brown bear and a small bowl of chocolate pudding. (The pudding packs you buy at the grocery store are just the right size!)
- Show the children how to use their fingers to paint the bear with the pudding.
- Then dip up what's left and eat it!
Comments:
I use a teddy bear theme with my preschoolers for the first day of preschool. Especially for 3 year olds, it is hard to come to a new place where nothing seems familiar. So we have a teddy bear picnic where the children bring their own teddy bear or stuffed animal from home. This gives them comfort and makes the first day of preschool a little more "bear"-able! This is just one thing that we do during the morning.
