Pretzel Art
Grade Level(s): Preschool
By: Paula Diekhoff, Preschool Teacher

Use fine motor and creativity skills in designing pretzel people or basic shapes.

Materials:

  • Pretzel sticks and pretzel circles
  • Glue
  • Small cardboard square for each child

Plan:

Children can glue the pretzel sticks and circles on their piece of cardboard to make realistic or abstract designs.

I demonstrated during circle time how to use the pretzel sticks to make a square, rectangle and triangle. We also discussed using the pretzels to make people, cars, animals, etc.

I was amazed at what they created! If you try to find art activities to fit into your "P" week, this is a keeper!

Comments:

I taught 2nd grade for a number of years, moved, and am now a preschool teacher at Head Start.
