Concrete Biopoems
Grade Level(s): 9-12
By: Tabbatha, High School Teacher

Students create poems about themselves in Spanish.

Materials:

  • Markers
  • crayons
  • paper
  • scissors

Plan:

During our unit over adjectives and desciptions, I have my students create a poem. They write a five line poem about themselves.

  • First line- first name
  • Second- two adjectives that describe themseves
  • Third- 3 activities they enjoy
  • Fourth- What they want to be
  • Fifth- last names

The students then choose a shape that is important to them (football, flowers, car, etc). They put the poem either inside this shape or around the edges. This really gets the kids involved. They are writing about their favorite subject (themselves) and relating it to something they enjoy doing. I've had a lot of success with it.

Comments:

I am a third year teacher- Spanish I, II, and III.
