Baseball Vocabulary
Grade Level(s): 9-12
By: Tabbatha, high school teacher

Review of vocabulary and verb conjugations. Can be used from beginning levels through advanced.

Materials:

  • Vocabulary lists- given to the students in advance or found in the textbooks.
  • Prizes

Plan:

  1. Divide the class into two teams. You'll want to push desks to the sides.
  2. Tell the students where first, second, third, and home plates are. The students take turns "at bat".
  3. The teacher gives them a vocabulary word either in Spanish or the English translation. If they get it right, they advance to first.

You can make this more competitive by giving harder questions more weight - a double or triple. This works well for conjugating verbs.

The team with the most points wins a predetermined prize- candy, 5 points on the test or quiz, or a free homework pass.

Comments:

I am a third year teacher in a small school district in rural East Texas. I teach Spanish I, II, and III.
